Like everyone from the De Baize family, Nicolas, a great water enthusiast, began his apprenticeship at sea around the age of 6. When he was 10, his father, Hervé, gave him and his brother Dominique their first boat, a small canoe barely 15 feet. It was from there that the adventures began for Dominique and Nicholas.
They have done everything you can imagine doing on the water with this boat; surfing campaigns, diving, fishing trips in the lagoon and outside and even planking as they do call, it is a game where you pull your friend on a plank behind the boat.
But all his adventures were reserved for weekends and during the holidays because Nicolas drawings is one of his passion and was even very talented. After his Paintings exhibited for the Form 5 and Form 6 exams, Nicolas embarked on tertiary studies at Charles Telfair Business School in Visual Communication in 2001. He graduated in 2003 and had a degree in 2005. He even had an award for the best student in Advertising at the AAA Award Ceremony of 2003. He worked 3 years in the field at first as a freelance and finally at FactoWe Ltée, a well-known advertising company.
In 2008, the big game fishing company, La Carangue Ltée, managed by his father, began to diversify and bought a fast boat. In order to increase the company with his sons, Hervé suggested that Nicolas join the clan. Nicolas rejoiced and attempted, therefore became the skipper of L’Amanda for about a year.
In 2011, Hervé and his sons, always with the aim of diversifying the company, were offered an opportunity to buy the O’plézir catamaran, which they took without hesitation and created HdB & Cx Ltd. Hervé suggested that Nicolas take care of the catamaran by becoming skipper first and taking over the management of HdB & Cx Ltd thereafter. But Nicolas did not stop there and with the help of his father and brothers, he decided to restructure the business by creating a single identity under the name of BlackRiver Charters.
Today Nicolas combines the useful with the pleasant by mixing passion and work, he is mainly responsible for the communication of BlackRiver Charters and the management of the office
